DELL Streak or Apple's Shit?
When there’s a big buzz in the market about the latest Apple’s product iPhone 4G, DELL, from the other side, released its most buzz created but less advertised product- Dell Streak. According to dell.com the tablet will be officially available on Friday in the U.S.
Who/What are u Dell Streak? Streak is an 5-inch android tablet (or smartphone) having WVGA 800 X 480 resolutions touchscreen, and runs android 1.6 (new versions of android operating system has been promised by DELL ‘later this year’). Streak includes other features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3D WWAN connectivity and 5 MP camera with dual LED flash. (Shane Mcglaun, dailtytech.com)
Streak’s 800x480 display gives a great full-screen experience watching video or browsing the web, plus 5MP front-and-back cameras is a cool feature included with smile detection and auto-focus. The front-camera enables video chat functionality. The users can upload any videos from YouTube at any time directly from Streak, and high-quality scratch resistant Gorilla glass gives a crystal-clear display. Streak has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor enabling multitasking and playing music/games without any delay. WiFi and Bluetooth are not missed in Streak. It also includes integrated Google Maps with voice-activated search, turn-by-turn navigation, street and satellite views. The user gets quick access to activity streams via integrated social network app widgets like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube enabling them to put photos and videos online in no time. It also has a user-accessible Micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB. That means the users can store lots of movies, music, photos or other kinds of files.
Since Dell Steak serves as both- a tablet and a smart phone, it’s gonna compete with the giant Apple ipad and also with the iPhone. DELL forced this comparison by itself calling Streak a tablet. The first thing Dell attracts its customers is by the flash(only available in the updated version of android) which is absent in Apple’s product. Its user-removable battery and 2GB internal memory, which allows users to download tons of apps, overcomes its drawbacks of being slightly heavier than other smart phones and having low battery life. Low battery life has been a major drawback in the Streak as many Streak users have commented on different blogs complaining this problem. However, closing unwanted apps at all time solves this problem.
