HOW TO CHANGE THE WINDOWS 7 LOGON SCREEN MANUALLY
![]() |
| sorry about the bad pixels. camera's battery was down, so had to take care of it via my Nokia 5530 |
Want a custom Windows 7 logon background like mine above? Piece of cake. You can keep any picture on your logon area. Interesting, isn't it? There are a lot of third party tools to do it already, but I am going to discuss on how to change your Windows 7 logon background manually.
So, first things first, finalize what you want as your logon screen background.
After you're done with selecting your background, here's how you do it :
Step 1: Go to Start menu and type 'regedit' [ Registry Editor ]
Step 2: After you get to Registry Editor, browse through "HKEY\Software\Microsoft
\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background". After you have done this, in the right area, change the value of OEMBackground to 1.
Step 3: In start, type %windir%\system32\oobe and hit Enter. Copy your image to be the logon background here. Right click and make a new folder here called info, then another inside info called backgrounds. Place your logon image here and rename it to "backgroundDefault.jpg".
That's pretty much it. Reboot your machine to find your custom background on the Logon area.
Third Party apps anyone?
Well, using an app is surely gonna make things easier[that's what apps are made for]. I have found this awesome app for the same purpose, and tried it. Works like a breeze on mine. Download it from CNET.
