PROJECT NATAL(Kinect) .. a big leap in gaming industry !!
While gamers are waiting for a revolution in the gaming industry, Project Natal might just be it. With absolutely no controller at all, our controller is supposed to be our own body. Now isn't that amazing? We experience a more realistic gaming experience, and we can totally be ourselves and have more gaming gesture freedom than pushing some buttons.
Kinect(formerly called Project Natal) basically consists of an RGB camera and a infrared projector + monochrome CMOS sensor, means it can capture any kind of motion and process it according to the gaming requirements to perform an action in the game. Apart from that, the device also allows facial recognition and voice commands, which opens an array of various things we can do, without a controller. The picture below describes the Kinect device.
Putting the technical things apart, imagine playing soccer at your home with your foot kicking the ball or a car race where your hand gestures control the steering. Imagine running down the tracks or playing tennis, or imagine going out there on the battlefield with a variety of weapons in your hands. That would no doubt be more fun than pushing a couple of buttons. And that would guarantee some fitness too.
Apart from that, few gaming studios have already confirmed they have already started to develop Kinect supporting games, and I hope they come soon. I would love to play NFS on the Kinect, or imagine playing GTA and being a virtual mobster.
The Kinect, set to release on 4th of November, will come with a redesigned Xbox 360. But the big question is, will Kinect beat down Playstation's Move or Wii Remote, which kind of look less promising.
Here's a link to the games already announced for Kinect.
