HOW TO CLEAN YOUR LAPTOP "THE RIGHT WAY"

I know this just doesn't sounds right. But trust me when I say it, your laptop is delicate, and has to be cleaned the right way. A minor mistake can cause your laptop to bear severe damage. So, I am going to explain how it is correctly done. I will be taking my dirty laptop(been a while I haven't cleaned it) and doing some cleaning to it.

Materials Required:
DUH! It would be almost impossible without a laptop in this session. Don't mind my laptop, it's not always that dirty. Exceptions happen. Place your laptop in a convenient position(that would help you make the cleaning process easier). I keep mine on the floor when I do the cleaning. Also mind the amount of lighting. The more the light, the more dirty your laptop is, and the more effective the cleaning is.

It is not necessary to have a laptop cleaning kit at all. But what hurts in getting a cheap kit that is going to last forever. Love your laptop. My kit basically has a spray, a pair of cloth, and a softbrush. The cloth is soft as well. The spray is some spirit which I don't care what its name is. But, always think wisely before you buy your kit because some of those solutions can cause a severe damage to the external parts of your laptop and most importantly the LCD screen. So, think a kazillion times before buying the solution and even the kit. Mine's not the best either, to be honest. And even you don't need the best. All that matters is the quality.

That said, let us jump into the basic rules of cleaning your laptop:

  • ALWAYS turn the power off while you're doing a cleaning.
  • Be gentle, it's your laptop, not your dishes.
  • The more patient you are, the more your laptop shines.

Starting the process
My advice : Always start with the screen. Why? Because, the screen is the hardest part to clean and it can freak you out in seconds. The stains and the fingerprints on the screen are a big pain. Personally, I don't trust my kit's cloth, so I use the soft cloth I got with my spectacles. Helps pretty much. You might want to do that too. After all, screens are delicate and important. Spray on the screen once(in case you don't have one, get some trusted spirit, DON'T use cleaners like Mr Muscle, they aren't made for laptop screens), from at least a feet distance, because spraying from a distance would cover more areas of the screen.

Rub the screen gently to wipe off all the dust and stains and fingerprints and whatnots. Never rub hard on the screen just because the stain wont go, or you will be having a disaster-scratches. Be patient, and rub the screen gently until the stains bid goodbye. You might also want to clean off the edges of the screen with a softbrush. Oh yes, and while you're cleaning, mind the dust too. If your cloth is dirty on the process, consider changing it or at least wash it and use it, because dust particles can cause a scratch on the screen too.

After you're done with the screen and its surrounding part, move towards the keyboards and the areas associated with it. Remember, whenever you are cleaning your keyboard, DO NOT DIRECTLY SPRAY ON THE KEYBOARD OR THE AREAS ASSOCIATED WITH IT. Because keyboards are complicated, and if you spray a large amount of liquid on the keyboard, it might cause a damage to your laptop's circuitry. So, always spray on the cleaning cloth while you are cleaning the keyboard and its surrounding area. You can rub as hard as you can on that area though(because that area is plastic and metal, so won't be causing damage). I have(lets say had) this star sticker on my palm rest panel and it used to bug my wrist every now and then, and I thought now would be the right time to remove it, so I did it. But the stain remained. So I tried to clean up the remains of the annoying star sticker, and finally, with lots of tests on my patience, I was able to remove the star and its remains. Lastly;
Yes, you're done cleaning the exteriors now. But what about the interiors? Cleaning the interiors are as important, or I must say more important than cleaning exteriors. So basically, I would start with keyboard.
Use the softbrush to take all the all the dust particles, food remains, strands of hair, etcetera etcetera off your keyboard. These dust particles will ruin your machine in the long run and also make your typing experience a disaster. Happens with me all the time. Also, don't forget to brush off all your USB ports, LAN ports, HDMI slots and all. It would really help your laptop remain healthy and functioning.

So, finally it is done. Is it shining? I bet it is. Mine's shining more than the first day it was bought*brag*. Thanks for reading. Please share and comment. I would love to interact. :)
